I heard today from a guy who fished the tournament that the forest service was having vehicle towed for parking along the road last weekend. Anyone else here this? Just wondering if they would do something like that in a big tournament like that.

Had a buddy walk up to his truck as the wrecker was backing up to his truck, and the park service lady told him it was ok to park there earlier that morning. Apparently there were enough complaints the tow truck service quit going out there and posted about it on Facebook. Bad deal for sure. Oh, and they were writing parking tickets as well.

That was on Saturday and yes people did get towed and everybody who parked on the grass got a $180 ticket. They were also writing tickets on Friday but I don't think they towed anybody. That had some No Parking signs up on Friday and then had a bunch more up on Saturday. We got there Saturday morning at 4:39 and barely got launched by 5:45. We got one of the last 3 parking spots in the lot. The Forest Service people were writing tickets for any violation they could find. I talked to one guy on Friday who got a ticket for not having a license plate on his trailer. If they really didn't want anybody parking on the grass they should of had someone posted at the lot and shut it down when it was full. They had already given the people a ticket, so why not leave them there until they got back from fishing. Towing them was a real low down move. Do you think they refunded the $5 launch fee to anybody who got a ticket. I'd bet not.

Pretty typical....they charge you to launch then tow your vehicle for parking once the lot is full

What a bunch of BS. Wish I could say it surprised me but it doesn't. Most law enforcement now is just ticket writing to pad the budget. Has absolutely nothing to do with public safety or conservation.

Funny how it's always LE's fault. If you get caught, bad LE. If they don't catch "that other guy', bad LE. They should do something. They shouldn't do that.
That last one is a big one and is really incomplete most of the time. What the entitled attitude really means is "They shouldn't do that to me"!!!
Wonder why they went to all that trouble and expense to put in a parking lot if using it is optional. Carry on.
"Slow ahead." I can go slow ahead. Come on down here and chum some of this [censored].

That sucks, they usually allow you to park wherever you can on busy weekends as long as you buy a launch pass. Wonder when they decided that wasn't going to be allowed anymore? Yep, does sound like a money grab...hopefully they will do some work on that road going into the ramp with all those funds...it's bad

They had a lot more boaters that parking spaces available. Use was not optional ... in other words parking on roadsides was the ONLY option at a certain point. Wonder why folks can't glean this info from the thread. In the previous 34 annual Bob Sealey T's this (ticketing) was not an issue although boaters still parked on roadsides (which were never posted before). This was not true LEO's but USFS agents. I've already contacted my US Congressman.
FTR I did not fish the BBS. I think if the USFS is going to police this activity the ramp should be closed and they should stop taking launch fees as soon as the parking lot is full. Wouldn't this be prudent of policing agencies?
This park is grown up, neglected, hasn't been mowed in over a year, maybe 2 and suddenly the upkeep (roadside parking) is important to the USFS. In other words the USFS provides a launch service for pay ($5) and not much else. It used to be a nice park. It is my favorite ramp and the most accessible from my house.
Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

Signs up on Friday saying no parking. Doing it anyway. Choices and consequences.

Well I ask this question because if the towing a vehicle and trailer when they know a guy or gal is on the lake. A ticket is one thing... but towing is wrong unless someone is blocking someone or something.. that being said I guess they need to get a count of all the available parking spots on all the ramps at the lake that the big bass splash is being held on. Subtract 20% for others not fishing the tournament.. and thats all that should be allowed to enter the thing. First come first serve. Its not right to allow more people to enter than the ramps can hold. If your going to get a 180 dollar ticket.?? Just a thought but seams like something is wrong..

No need to limit the # of tournament entries. Lots of ramps, private ramps, guys could even dump the boat and have wife take the trailer back to the hotel. The park should just limit the # to how many parking spots they have
