Looking to upgrade my 1991 Ranger with electronics on the bow and helm. The electronics on the boat are almost as old as the girl herself. I am not brand loyal and have about as much electric knowledge as the graphs I now have. What all can I get in that price range? Down scan? Side scan? Maps? Way points? Lake maps? If this question has been asked previously I apologize. Thank you in advance.

Take a look at the Garmin EchoMap line for maps and the Striker line with GPS but no maps installed. You can make your own maps as you fish on both these.

Take a look at the Lowrance Hook2 series. You can get Down, SideScans, Sonar & Full lake maps with contour lines that are with-in your budget.
