My riding lawnmower just lost power while mowing. When I turn the key, I can hear a faint clicking sound, but the engine wont' turn over.
Ideas???

if the engine turns over...then what? it needs fuel and fire. check fuel flow and spark.

It was like I just turned the key off. No big event when it quit running.

Check your battery terminals to see if they are tight.

Mine has a pair of automotive-type fuses under the seat. When one blows, it stops dead. Might be worth a look.

fuse or seat safety switch may have failed.
check plug wire to make sure it didn't come off/loose.
what mower is it also would help. our zero turn has a park lever, if it is down it kills the mower.

Well if it wont even try to turn over, its either hard seized or dead battery or there is a control/interlock issue. Since it didnt crash and burn when it died, and its unlikely got a dead battery, I gotta go with control/interlock issue.

If you can, get a test light on the starter solenoid wire from the ignition switch. See if it gets power when you try to turn it over. I think you may be better off than me and my JD445.
