Just wondering if anyone knows any good spots for around Abilene? Mainly gonna lure fish but open to anything. Went out on Oak Creek this past weekend and now I'm hooked.

You are only a couple of hours from Glen Rose and Wheeler Branch.

A good time to fish the lake and a trip everyone needs to make, at least once, if fishingout of a kayak!

Oak creek is a great lake, that one is my home lake. We have a kayak bass tourney coming up there on the 13th of April. Lake Abilene has been kicking out some chunks, Hords creek isn't very far and fishing well also. If you dont mind venturing out onto other larger lakes, Brownwood, Coleman, and lake Leon in Eastland are all some of my favorites to fish. If you like traveling out west check out Champion Creek south of Colorado City. San Angelo has a ton of spots to jump in the river and fish and several lakes as well. OC Fisher down in Angelo has been on fire this spring

i haven't been (yet) but the Brazos River below PK is said to be a great place to fish out of a kayak and isn't too far from you

Lake JB Thomas should be in your "bucket spots" as well. Great fishing and totally forgotten about. It sits about 20 miles west of Snyder. Dosser is right about Champion. You can catch em by the numbers there.

Try the pecan bayou in Brownwood. You can put in at the city park and at fabis Park which is on the right as if you are on the road going to the dam from the sportsman center. And if you put in at cc Woodson you can kayak for miles but will need someone to pick you up.

The Brazos is running way too high right now. Check the water flow at USGS Water Data before you go. With all the rain, I wouldn't expect it to drop for a while.
