On our houseboat they ran unshielded two wire to the top lights (at least it's stranded/tinned), bathroom lights, and a couple others. It's an 80s houseboat so it makes me wonder it these were retrofits since some lights are run with grounds.

Should I start pulling new wire from the breaker? I know there's a risk with stay voltage moving from the AC to DC system. Or would it be okay to replace to ceiling lights with full plastic fixtures? We had some 14 inch and 8 inch fixtures we were going to swap but they have a metal bezel..

The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach
