![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2019/03/full-107507-6522-xpress_done1.jpg) Tore all the carpet out and added no slip coating. Lowrance units on console and bow, and added an Ultrex for Christmas. Boat fishes excellent!! And as I said, price and maintenance costs can't be beat. Stores easily. Can you PM me about that coating? That's a damn clean boat

Depends. I had an X21 and was fishing a TTT on Toledo bend. This was back in 2001 or 2002. We launched at cypress bend park. I was about the 8th boat in line going north when we went thru the cut by the island just north of the launch. Thats when the wind showed its ugly face. Every boat in front of me except 1 let down....we all about speared each other in the arse. After they all turned around I told my non boater partner to hang on. I saw the other boat (it must have been the leader or 2nd boat cause he was way out there already) I punched it and ran north past the bridge, crossed the lake to Tx side and got to my fish. Coming back the waves were bouncing off those cliffs like an ocean....it was a surreal feeling going thru that. Anyways that boat had a Yamaha 225 and I could keep that nose up better than most glass boats could. I did crack the transom welds on both sides and needed an 1/4 aluminum plate welded in but that day showed me my aluminum boat could go anywhere I was able or daring to take it.
What a foolish comment, if you broke the transom then no it won't, you just got lucky to make it back Nothing foolish about what I said. Those waves were big enough to keep just about all PEOPLE from going thru them....but most boats could do the work on there part if the driver could do his. And I did not notice the small cracks until I got home. And they were still strong but I knew I needed to beef them up. The guy said 8,000 acres....now thats really foolish statement.

I'll always go aluminum because I don't want an old glass boat with a bunch of problems. I bought a 2010 G3 Eagle 176 with a 4 stroke Yamaha from my neighbor that was in mint condition. I actually was looking at a 1994 21'champion at first and I'm glad I didn't go that route because for the money I got something that has no issues and a super reliable outboard that sips fuel vs something that had a few issues and would let me run in rough water at 70mph. If you don't fish serious tournaments all the time and huge lakes you can't beat an aluminum rig.

Lots of guys with short man syndrome are going to come on here and say go glass..... theyre compensating. They also drive lifted trucks and have white costas and flat bills and just glare at you on the water in order to feel like a BA. Its comical. If youre a serious tournament angler and fish big water lakes a lot, then yes, get glass. Its better for those conditions. But for 80-90% of the guys on here, tin would work fine. If money is no object, do what you want. But dont let the many guys on here whos nickname was tater tot in high school football tell you that you have to run glass and glare at people in order to be a man and catch fish. Every one of them has had their ace handed to them by a guy in a tin rig.

I run a Crestliner PT 20 and would put it up against any bass boat tin or glass. 80lb terrova is all that's needed. Have been spotlocked offshore in 35mph gusts with no issues multiple times. The boat is a workhorse with massive front and back decks, boatloads of storage (literally), easy to pull, great gas mileage even with a 200horse merc, and cost half of what a new glass boat would run. No brainer if you ask me. As far as tournaments go......its a tournament tested and ready boat with 45 gallon livewell. Anyone thinking of possibly going tin should take a look at least.

I have a pro 190 txw and fished he Texas team trail on Toledo last January. Yes the one were the wind gust were like 30 mph and the water temp was around 34 degrees. More then once I wished I had more boat but I am an avid blue water guy to so know how to drive in big stuff so we were ok. I don't think any boat was on plane running the boat lanes that day. I love my little boat but will never do that again. Upgrading to glass next year because on my days off I go no matter what. Need My knees
When I am not fishing I am thinking about fishing. And mostly what I should have done differently my last trip! #Brockstarama

I run a 2015 Lowe FM 165 with a 4 stroke 60 mercury. I love that thing other anglers might beat me to a spot but if you are a real angler you could catch them anywhere. don't buy alumacraft! a neighbor had one brand new he always kept it clean and in the garage 6 months goes by and he is fishing the bud light tourney and starts taking on water. the weld broke at the front side where the bottom starts to come up.they had to send it to Arkansas to have it welded through the warranty. 6 months goes by with him being out of a boat. he finally gets it back and the first trip he starts taking on water again same spot opposite side breaks. oh he was mad!

I agree with mossyback75. I run a 2009 Triton VT-19 with a 115 Optimax. Hands down the best boat I have ever owned. It was made by Crestliner back then. They still make the VT-19. I think most people have a certain mindset about aluminum boats. Everyone that has fished with me has been amazed at the stability, fishability and ride (no aluminum noise). If the average fisherman knew how good these boats really are we would see a lot more of them on the water. Mine cost $20,000 back then. I'm amazed to see the ads for a special sale on a bass boat at only $67,000.

I have a bass tracker heritage and the worst things I have found is the boat blows around like an empty water bottle on top of the water and it is a very rough ride. The good things are that it can go really shallow and I am not worried about messing up the aluminum. Another good this is each trip is about 5$ in gas. Working on getting a spot lock TM.
