Nice map jtexas!
Bryan, it's easy to find it's exact location: just motor along the jetty about 100 feet out from the riprap where you'll be in about 25-30 feet of water and note on your graph where it suddenly starts shallowing up to about 8-10 feet. It'll drop right back off again after you pass over. Excellent little spot but like anywhere, sometimes it produces and sometimes it doesn't.
Good luck!

i agree with darren418, the peanut can be good-specially when fished correctly, but man-o-man, you gotta try the rock-pits over closer to the dam-heath bridge area. i got a 14.7 lb.er from there and its hangin on my wall. and if i was a fella lookin for some good sandie-hybrid action, you gotta try some shad over along the rocks of the dam. i been tryin to target the channel cats over there and every time i go over there i usually get a nice hybrid or two, some days more hybrids than anything else.

thanx for all the replies, and the map. this site is awesome!!
i didnt have the info you guys gave when we left out today, so my son and i motored over to the bass pro shops area and fished maybe 75-100 yds straight out in front of the "tracker boats" sign on the lake side of the building. the bottom broke sharply from about 8 ft to maybe 18 ft right where we were and we anchored up on top of it. there were several other boats in our area but most appeared to be vertical jigging.
all we packed were ultralight spinning rigs with 4 pnd test lo-vis green line, and we rigged chrome/blue backed tinytrap rattle traps, and just heaved them and burned them back to the boat. we each caught small sandbass on the first cast, and at one point, my son caught small sandies on nine consecutive casts! all this action in just a few minutes, and we were only out for about 2 hrs. we didnt count them as we tossed them back into the water, but it was the best trip we have had in years.

flyinbryan,,,,there is an old levee that runs under the 30 bridge where you were fishing, it runs north and south. It runs just to the east of the 3rd no wake marker (counting from east to west) on the south side of 30. That is great spot for large sand bass, all summer long. I usually jig there, alot of times every pole in the boat will have fish on at the same time. Give it a shot next time your there.

Way to go on a great trip Bryan! As you found out, there are many good places on Ray Hubbard. Smaller baits, of course, will tend to get you smaller fish but not always. All around Robertson Park Point (as shown on jtexas' map) is good too, especially at the dropoffs.
Thanks for the report and welcome to the forum.

thanx grove rat, will do. do you use those chrome jigging spoons there? it makes sense that we would have caught bigger ones if we had fished a little deeper. most of ours were about 12 inches or so, but for some reason, i was thinking every single one was bigger than they turned out to be, little devils sure are fun on ultralight tackle.
oh yea, im from pleasant grove too, lol. (st augustine and lake june area) moved out here to forney bout 20 yrs ago though.

yea, ive always been able to put little kids on fish pretty easy with those tinytraps, but they have always been small.
now that the kids are all grown up and a bit more patient i figured it would be a good time to target bigger fish so i bought some of those cannon downriggers, and have no idea on how to use them, as far as what lures or where or how deep.
now that ive found this forum, im thinking about inquiring more on the subject!! i can already tell this site is gonna help me to catch bigger fish, and im pretty excited about it!

Flyin,,, thats funny, only a "Grove Rat" knows what "Grove Rat" means!!! There are a few on here, but I wont dime them. Most of the people I know that left the grove, moved to Forney, My brother lives out there too. I grew up in the Prairie Creek, Lake June area. My dad FINALLY moved out of there, he graduated Samuell in 62. Anyway,,,back to fishing stuff,,,,I dont use spoons much. Get you some slabs, Bomber slabs are probably what most of use on here started with, chrome/blue is good, white, chart, etc... Check out some TNT's, those are real good. Humdingers, you will find links to those on here. I use Silver Dollar slabs from Bass Pro, they are good too.

While we are at it...could someone also point out where East Point is? I think that is what it's called.
