What ever happened with to this lake? I thought it was going to be the next Lake Fork when it opened.

It was better than Fork in the late 90s and early 2000s. I would drive across Fork to fish Cooper seven days a week. Then it kept getting drained by the Metroplex. Water quality suffered, there were fish kills, and it basically died. What a shame that was, because we could use another outstanding fishery with great facilities.

It was just as good if not better than Fork around 1995-2000.

Yeah it's crazy to think some of the best guides on Fork in the hayday were driving over there. Those early to mid 90's were good days.

No doubt! Lets just say it didn't suck having a bass boat in college at Commerce during that time frame with Cooper on one side of you, and Fork on the other. Prolly why it took me so long to graduate! grin

I fished it last year with limited success. I wish it were a good lake. I live only 20 minutes from it. If you research the fish surveys it is not good where bass are concerned. Sad because I am sure the lake could have a positive economic impact on that community.

I grew up half a mile from one of the ramps. I remember seeing the lot full and rigs lined up in the ditch in the late 90s/early 2000s. Pretty sad to see it now. There are still a few bass in there, but not near like it was back then unfortunately!
