How much did you trim them. Back to about a foot off the ground? My old place I only had 2 rose bushes and never really paid a lot of attention. I just trimmed them as they go in my way. But the new house has quit a few and want to start this season trimming them correctly.

Thanks. That's what I'll do. I started using alfalfa tea on my roses a couple years ago and they really responded well using it. Plenty of recipes online. Basically 5 gallon bucket of water, 2 cups of alfalfa pellets, 1/8 cup of Epsom salt. Mix together, put a lid on and let set for 5 days. Stir once a day. Strain and use a gallon per plant every 6 weeks.

Warning: The mixture in the bucket after a couple days smells horrible.

I cut mine back to the three best branches. I also take all the junk off those too.

Cut back and add epsom salts to the soil around Valentine's Day.

Next month, start with the alfalfa tea.

Don't know about the alfalfa tea, but spreading used coffee grounds around the base of the plants on a regular basis through the year always made the ones my ex had at our house look great.
Pine needles or pine mulch also worked good in the N Texas black gumbo dirt too.

Im probably wrong but they seem really hardy here? I cut mine to a stump and it was back the next year. I almost got stung a few times by bees coming through the gate and I'm allergic to em.

Now I bet if I tried to maintain one it would die in a week.
