Got my boat back out of the shop and decided to give it a test run yesterday before the weather hit. Slid the bow up on one of my favorite gravel bars, checked the water temp - 69.9 degrees - slid my four weight out of the rod rack, checked the hook point on my size six clouser, waded out in front of the boat, straightened my hat, squared my shoulders and got busy. The pool above a set of riffles was LOADED with fish and, to borrow a phrase from Robert Hunter, it was a twenty fish on twenty casts kind of day.

I caught some little ones and I caught some pretty nice fish.

I fished for about two and half hours and caught, I don't know how many fish. I know my arm was getting tired, thumb sore and I was running out of ideas for photos. I checked the radar and decided to cut out a little early. That was one of those days dream about at work. Had the creek to myself, the fishing was easy ( to the point you could goof around some and not worry about the fish quitting on you), the light was soft and filtered, the air temp was 72 degrees and just enough soft breeze to riffle the water. I saw a couple of dear, heard some turkeys calling and there were owls everywhere, there hooting echoing down the creek. And, the best part, I made it back to boat ramp this time and beat the downpour home.

So far all the heavy rain is moving South of me. May be time to hit them again if this keeps up.

Getting out to fish is pretty perfect, but some days like you described are extra perfect. Looks like a nice spot, your own little paradise.
