Thats a Rhodesian Ridgeback AKA African Lionhound. I have a Ridgeback and a Pitbull. My Ridgeback is by far the dominant dog. If the same type of degenerant were raising Ridgebacks like they raise Pitbulls, such as leaving them on a leash in an unfenced backyard all the time, we would be hearing reports of Ridgebacks mauling people all the time. Its not the breed of dog its the breed of owner.
Ridgebacks are very tunnel visioned and single minded. If you give them a command to do something, such as track a Lion, they will not obey any other commands until it has found that Lion. Then it will think it can kill the Lion. A pack of them for sure could kill a Lion.
Another funny story is that my Ridgeback is never quite convinced something is dead. Mine killed a Possum in our backyard and he kept mauling it until it was nothing more than a pulp.
He is not a viscious dog it just that when a Ridgeback is gonna do something nothing is going to stop it.

As a kid growing up on our ranch in San Marcos, my guardian as a Ridgeback named Lunker that followed me everywhere. I roamed from tanks to the river all over that 800 acres and he was always there following me around. His favorite things to do, in no particular order were -Kill coyotes -Bring turtles to the house -Kill snakes and bring them to the house
The only true intercontinental champion.

So, did the dog have the shark mounted? (stuffed)
Don't look at the glass as half full or half empty. Look at it as a normal portion of water in a container that's too big. <'))))<

I saw a ridgeback attack a moving car once, literally launched himself into the side of the car, left a pretty good dent, shook himself off and went about his business.

RR's rock! One of the coolest dogs around and very loyal! Known several over the years, and your right, they can be every bit the badass pit bulls can be (strength wise), but they have a much a much better temperment.

The point is that the dog didn't know it and would have attacked it anyway.

That's why they call it fishing and not catching!
