Spent the past twelve years in central Texas and North central Texas fishing lakes with stained water. I've moved to east Texas and the water is much clearer. I have a tackle box full of chartreuse baits but not sure what to use in these east Texas waters. Fished a lake on Saturday and could see bass everywhere. Threw just about everything at them and finally got two on a crawfish jig. I'm using fluorocarbon on two of my reels and braid on the third. Any advice on lure colors? And do you tie anything directly to braid in these clear water lakes?

What lakes?
Each lake seems to have a favorite color.
But in general shad colors or greens

5Redman8 I live in Longview and fish the smaller lakes around this area. I really like Brandy Branch and Gilmer Lake, but not because I catch many fish. Lol

That Chartreuse will work in clear water, too! Watermelon base with Red or Purple or Gold or Black fleck is common, as is Blue Fleck and Junebug and Red/Tomatoe or Plum Apple. But the 'ole Watermelon Red is king on many lakes.

As mentioned above green pumpkins and watermelon. Certain green pumpkins work on certain lakes and not on others. You have to go through trail and error to match the right hue/shade to each lake. I throw black flake 95% of the time.
Note: I only have 1.5 years of east Texas experience so I feel your pain. A veteran may can provide more in-depth info.

If you are wanting to settle on one color I would choose Green Pumpkin. But as mentioned, watermelon red is good at times here, and shad colors for cranks. I have been here for 8 years and have caught some with a chartreuse crank, but cant really say it has ever been the best option even when I felt the conditions were perfect for it. For the 2 lakes you mentioned I would stick to a shad pattern square bill and green pumpkin red soft plastics, maybe green pumpkin with a little orange for jigs- Finch Nasty GP Orange is my go to most of the year - https://finchnastybaitco.com/collections/football-jigs/products/vicktory-jig?variant=21608741830756

Hard to beat watermelon red in east Texas and if stained just dip tail chartreuse. Wat red brush hog with dipped tail looks like a bream imo in stained water

Try watermelon/gold also. Sometimes it works better than watermelon/red.
