So I have looked around at alot of different things concerning set ups and such for crappie fishing. I have taken most peoples advice off of the TFF world to set my crappie/duck/ do anything flat bottom. I am to the point now of deciding on a graph set up and potential trolling motor change. What's the set up yall see successful as far as graphs and accessories for them? I'm not looking to spend 15k on graphs for the front and back, however will spend what's necessary to be set up well. No opinion is a bad one, just on the fence about so many of these!

The trolling motor is going to depend on your style of fishing. If all you are going to fish is brush piles or submerged timber then a Minn Kota Terrova electric steer or a MotorGuide Xi5 with anchor option. If you are going to be fishing timber and bridge pilings I recommend the Minn Kota Ultrex with i-Pilot. The Terrova foot pedal is more responsive over the Xi5.

As far as the graph at the console, I would recommend a HUMMINBIRD HELIX 10 CHIRP MEGA SI FISHFINDER/GPS COMBO G3N W/TRANSOM MOUNT TRANSDUCER 410890-1. The Ultrex foot pedal is more responsive than the Terrova or Xi5 foot pedal.
At the bow, I recommend a Garmin echoMap 93sv or the 1042xsv both w/o transducer teamed up with LiveScope on a PoleDucer transducer mount.

The unit at the console is best used for finding fish and or structure. The bow unit is best used for fishing the fish and or structure found at the console.

Let me know if I may assist you further. I would be happy to answer any other questions you may have.

Garmin Livescope

One 10-pounder is better than ten 1-pounders; but 100 1-pounders is ok too!

I fish and duck hunt out of the same boat also. A few weeks ago, I had the livescope system and a Minn Kota xi5 trolling motor installed. It has changed everything for me. I love it. The people that installed it for me, set it up in a way that I can pull it all off in just a few minutes. They put a quick release mount on my trolling motor. All I have to do is pull a pin. I only have to take out 2 screws to remove the livescope. I had the transducer mounted on a poleducer for easy removal and as a way to control where I point it as opposed to mounting it on my trolling motor. Ot is not as fancy as the bass boats and pontoons but it serves my needs.

For the trolling motor...there are all kinds out there...I'd just recommend a foot control over a hand control. Foot control just frees your hands up for fishing and not controlling the boat.

Graphs...it's Ford vs Dodge vs Chevy. I'd recommend at least something with side-imaging, down imaging, and a GPS...at least 7-8" screen at the console...and then something with down imaging on the trolling motor. This won't break the bank for you. If you want to spend more $$, then you can certainly go to larger screens very easily.

I agree with this with 1 addition. I would want another mega 10 on the front linked to the console that I could use to control the trolling motor.
The Go To feature will spoil you.
