They made that announcement to sponsors already this week.

^^^

Yeah, I can't imagine those anglers with BPT being happy with NOT being able to attend and fish the opens. Gerald Swindle comes to mind, he is helping his nephew in the opens. A few other guy's did fish the opens and I am sure they planned on fishing the northern opens too. I guess Ott won't be able to defend his title. This just seems wrong for the anglers and their sponsors to me.

Clearly the flw buy died with Irwin so now they are trying to cut at the other trails. Good luck with that. roflmao

my take on it was that Duckett has a much bigger vision for the sport than BASS did....he is seeing the growing popularity of high school and college fishing and realizes the audience for bass fishing is going to grow as well...and ...he also is an extremely successful businessman.... getting stan kroneke, johnny morris and almost all of the successful and well known fishermen on board, bass fishing is going to grow....I believe boyd and several other pro fishermen realized a few years ago there is a growing need for sports programming and now they have the most viewers of any outdoor shows and this number will certainly increase with exposure on the discovery and CBS sports channels plus outdoor channel and sportsman channel....
he kind of skirted the issue but BASS has had the opportunity to grow the sport for several years and all they have managed to accomplish is a few hours programming on ESPN2 and the fishermen were pretty much still fishing for their own money....
I believe MLF is headed in the same direction as the PGA tour in that sponsor,TV and venue money will be divided up among the players instead of going into the pockets of a few owners...

my prediction is that the unfortunate death of Irving Jacobs will delay MLF's purchase of FLW but it will happen because it fulfills MLF's need for a feeder system....

So Im pretty biased when it comes to the three different leagues. I pretty much only keep up with BASS. , and some of the FLW. But i didnt hear Boyd saying any of this stuff. He literally said if there is no schedule conflict the anglers can fish any event they want. Also if the sponsors want the anglers at the classic and other expos, that they would attend if there was no conflicting dates.

I think your're just about spot on, whether it turns out like the PGA tour who knows but they're sure gonna try, things were never gonna change with BASS especially after the acquisition by the current weak leadership.

I sure am enjoying watching all the new guys on the flw and bass circuit take the ball and keep it going. My take from being a marshal with some of the past elite guys that moved to MLF is they are very arrogant and think they are irreplaceable in the fans eyes. Bad mistake!!! I will not purchase products intentionally if they are promoted by these guys if possible. Duckett and his antics make me sick..growing has been old farts egos is what he is about!

The most interesting thing to me is how people can watch that interview and then come to the TFF and post opinions/thoughts that are 180 degrees different.

The polarizing nature of all the MLF stuff is incredible.

BASS also has every tournament on ESPN 3 live. Xfinity customers can view right from cable box on their tv just like any other live sport so Im sure its on other cable providers as well. Also, do you remember bass fishing before BASS? Likely not because the organization and its founders pretty much started this as a sport. So easy on that Org not doing anything to grow the sport. They built the sport. And all the successful anglers and people you are crediting MLF for having to grow the sport pretty much came up and learned through BASS. Kroenke is the only new addition.

Also- who is growing the College series and high school stuff. It sure aint MLF. Who has grass roots tournament leagues and club leagues. Not MLF.
BASS has taught more anglers about fishing and introduced more pros to the general public than any organization.

All MLF is doing is trying to make the anglers lives easier and possibly make a little more money. While making more money for the financiers. Which is fine. Im a capitalist.
I just wont credit them for growing the sport yet. When all they have done is take the same viewers from one trail over to the other.
