I might get flamed for this but year after year they are ALWAYS draining water out of Fork. Rare is it that the lake is not falling lake level wise being its a reservoir. At this point I do not think it affects the fish near as much as some claim. It is what it is. I think it gets used as an excuse more often for a bad day than it truly being the cause for that bad day.
It's a reservoir, with a dam, and water gets released...every year....am I missing something here? Rayburn has lost 10ft in 2 months totally interrupting the spawn and it never has impacted the fishery. Pretty sure fork will be ok too
Lake being up .35 feet over night and .36 feet over pool is much more important metrics than any gates being opens. If I have to choose between consistent water level and closed locks, I choose consistent water level. Ive fished for bass in a lots of title/river environments. Other then water temperature, change in water level is whats most important this time of year. They can open as many locks as they like. Just keep the water level as constant as possible.
I was on the water most of the day Wednesday and fishing was pretty tough. We managed to put seven fish in my boat with the largest one being 6 lbs. 14 oz. but it was a grind.
