Does anybody have any first hand experience with this unit? I know the general consensus is always get a bigger unit but this will be for my bass tracker so looking for something semi budget friendly. Ive heard this unit comes with the smaller compact transducer and i dont know if it can be upgraded to the full size mega si transducer as ive heard this helps image quality. I dont know of anyone who has one yet but im curious if the down scan and side scan would be any better than the hook triple shot that I currently have? Thanks for any info!

It does not have Down Imaging just like all the other Helix 5 and Helix 7 SI units.
The MEGA SI+ transducer has a Down Imaging piezo and no connection for it.
I have tried the MEGA SI+ transducer with it but did not see any noticeable image quality gain.

This is the two transducers:

Very interesting i did not know it did not do down imaging if you have side scan. That kinda sucks. Other than that have you been happy woth image quality?

The unit has composite DI VIEWS created by blending the two Side Imaging pulses. It's what Garmin copied with their ClearVu.

What you gain with the G3 and G3N Helix 7 MEGA SI is Dual Spectrum Low-Q HW CHIRP 2D sonar, and the added MEGA Imaging frequency. What it does not have in relation to the larger Helix G3N units is 800 kHz and the dedicated Down Imaging, just has 455 kHz and 1200 kHz Imaging.

So which is better going to buy one ?
