We were fishing a flat area that was on the edge of a stump field. This fisherman trolls right over where I just cast, I asked him what he was doing, my line then hangs up in his trolling motor then he accuses me of blocking the lane and starts cussing at me and threatens to kick my butt. A couple of hours later another boat veers into the field to make sure he doesnt disrupt our fishing.

How have you handled a situation where you are confronted with ignorance?

It's 2019, there is no such thing as "fishing etiquette" anymore. I fish Ray Bob a lot and I've literally had idiots from other boats cross my line..

Several year ago when I just had a kayak a boat pulls in between my buddy and me. I paddle to the other side of the cove and he pulls right next to me again. I get a rattle trap and throw it towards the boat and it lands on his deck. He says whoa whoa what is this? I cant believe people are this cotton pickn ignorant.

Unfortunately, many people are ignorant or just flat out disregard fishing etiquette. Last year I had a boat come flying up on a bank I was fishing, stop 25 yards from my boat and start fishing the stretch of bank that I was clearly heading towards. I said something to them and then they threatened to fight me. its just ridiculous... all these lakes are larger size and have more than enough productive water that theres just no reason to be an [censored] to a fellow angler.

This is everywhere you go . This is a direct result of bad parenting . Never teaching children about personal responsibility and/or respect . The education system of this country is a total failure and add that to "adults " that have no intention or desire to raise kids with strong moral character . Remember the movie " Parenthood " with Steve Martin and Keanu Reeves ? The quote , "you need a license to drive , a license to catch a fish ---- but any dumb azz can make a baby " ? So true and it is the single biggest failure of this country.
When someone cuts me off or fishes to close , I remind them it isn't respectful , 99% of them come up with the only answer their tiny brain affords them " frick you" is the typical answer . Then I proceed to fish all around them and block their access to moving forward .

This can kinda go both ways. Sounds like you were blocking the safe boat passage area and someone decided that your fish aint worth damage to his boat from stumps.

It's not as bad when we are fun fishing. But it seems like every tournament we fish out there now, we come across one or two that just do some things that make me shake my head.

at least at Fork I think it came about when the BIG money tournaments started maybe 25 or so years go. " I PAID TO FISH IN THIS TOURNAMENT. YOU ARE NOT IN IT SO I CAN PUSH IN AHEAD OF YOU!" attitude.

and has only gotten worse as the years went on.

there is no way to reverse it. short of perhaps gun fights Even certain guides are trying to "convince" other guides to stay out of "their" spots. Like every spot on this lake hasn't been fished by nearly everyone else.

I really hate it when I get cut off.

Had the same thing in golf years ago. I'm putting on a green on a par 5 and a ball lands 3 feet from me on the green. Guys is 220 yds back so he's probably hitting a wood. Ball could have killed me. He would have been putting for an eagle. I took his ball off the green, teed it up, and hit it right back at him. Idiots abound in every sport.

In fishing it goes both ways. Respect others right of where they are and where they are clearly headed. On the other side I've had guys try and claim an entire large cove (I'm talking big) on a Saturday morning. Just because you're working one side of a cove doesn't give you the right to the other side just because you're going to get there at some point in the future. By 30 minutes after day break there's a boat on every friggin hump and cove and you gotta be willing to share a large area. If that's an issue just don't fish on Sat. morning at a DFW lake or you're going to be pretty frustrated.
