When you have 14 illegals renting a $5000.00 mobile home …..and they have 10 children in school learning "English as a second language" property taxes are not an equitable way of supporting our schools. Which is why a sales tax is better than property tax. Exactly.
Trust your own instinct. Your mistakes might as well be your own, instead of someone elses.

Maybe we could impose an education tax per student on families with children to supplement the existing school taxes. As a kidless homeowner that pays what I pay for the Plano Independent School District, I support this plan. The problem is you benefit from the quality of the schools in your neighborhood whether you use them or not. Good schools drive up property value. Not really, it the city and city planning that drive up property values Compare Frisco and Irving, lived in both and both have good schools, city planning and building codes drive up values

Government Revenue is the necessary evil in our society. Texas is still one of the lower overall taxed States. Well, until they raise it.
May you be treated the way you treat other people, today and everyday!

Stress less, relax more. Go fishing.

Arent property owners locked in after a certain age? The assessed value keeps going up, but the tax amount those owners pay stays at the same dollar amount.

Not 1% but 1 cent. Going up from 6.2 to 7.2 or sum such. By the way that's 16%. With other taxes the average rate would climb from 8.25 to 9.25.

School tax should be appropriately re-labeled Child Tax and assessed accordingly. Whether you own or rent is not calculated, the tax is levied per child. It's the only equitable way. There's another equitable way to assess property tax. The county in which the appraiser works is obligated to purchase your property for what he appraised it at and it must be within $10 of your neighbors. This wisdom only comes with being over taxed on the same home for 30 years.
I am a Senager. (Senior teenager) I have everything that I wanted as a teenager, only 50 years later. I get an allowance every month. I have PU truck and a bass boat, I am blessed. Conscience never acquits, it either accuses or excuses.
