I'm joining the kayaking fishing world! Ive fished my eniter lofe but always from a boat. Just wanted to say Hi and please forgive seeminly dumb questions you may get soon. 😆 I'll be buying my Yak this weekend and can not wait to get it on the water.

I guess my first question will be, where are some fun spots that you can't get to in a bass boat and have good sceanery and fish?

welcome

It really depends upon what type of fish you are after and how far you are willing to go.

This time of year is made for kayaks... skinny water, shallow water, grass mats and dense timber are all spawning and feeding grounds. PB's (power boats) are limited in these areas.

Lake Fork has a lot of grass that the PB's can't reach. Naciniche is full of timber (and huge bass!). Both of these are in my "to do" list.

Personally, since selling my Skeeter, I really enjoy getting back on smaller water again. All of those 50 to 1,000 acre ponds and lakes that you pass up and say "I wonder"... all of the feeder creeks that you drive over and say "that looks like great fishing"... hit them all!

Many of the guys on here can speak more about catfish. A few can speak about salt.

Enjoy your new ride!

Brazos river, Devils River, Pecos River, Guadalupe river, Pedernales River, Blanco River, and Colorado River. Those are places in Texas with good scenery and fishing that is a Bass Boat no go. If we add some other states then it can add a couple dozen more rivers. Take away good scenery and you add hundreds of places.

Just as a heads up since this is going to be your first kayak, did you read the stickies at the top of the page on choosing a fishing kayak, and the other questions.
A kayak isn't as great an investment as a fishing boat, but it still requires some homework and one size does not fit all.
Good luck, and welcome to the madness.

Post up photos of your new ride and also on the maiden voyage.
As I mentioned on another thread, just give yourself a chance to get the feel of fishing from a kayak. It's not going to be the same as fishing from a boat, so there is a learning curve.
Wind is something you will soon find out has a way of making things difficult fishing from a kayak, but with some practice and learning techniques it can work in your favor.
Don't hesitate asking questions as there are several veteran kayakers here to help you out! thumb
