If you run an HDI transducer for sonar and an Active Imaging 3in1 Transducer does it need to be in the water when on full plan? I seen some mounted to jack plates.
I notice that they say the 3 in 1 works best at slow speed. I have an HDS7 CARBON and thinking about getting the 3 in 1 to run with my other ducer. On my starboard side I have live well in and outlets, so I will need to mount it above these and I know it will not be in the water when running on full plan.

I�ve been through three 3n1 transducers on my live unit, now I went back to my 3dss. I�ve had nothing but hell with my hds live head unit and transducer, putting my carbons back on.

I put it on my trolling motor and it worked well but won't fit on my new tm

I just got this 7carbon and was told the 3 in1 was the best ducer, Before I drop $300+ on an ducer I want to know what is the best one to get. i understand that if it not touching the water when on pad it won't work but do you read side image at 50mph. you said 3dss ducer what is that? If 3 in 1 is bad what about the total scan one?

Go over to BBC Lowrance section and read about the issues, the 3n1 is terrible under about 15 fow. There is a wide black line in the side imaging that is not worth a damn.

3dss is 3D structure scan.

What issues have you had? I�ve had my two Live units for month now and have zero issues. I�m running two 12� Lives with a 2-1 mounted on the Atlas also have a transducer glasses in for 2-d and a HDI on the troll.

Blurry, grainy images, wide black lines etc. sent multiple pics to Lowrance and they have no answer. Dealer put the 3D SS back in my boat per Lowrance recommendation and did request we install the software update. That was nothing more than a mess, had no DI, SI. Lowrance rep said the update screwed up my 3D so we installed a new one last week before champs. It is somewhat better now but still not as advertised. If not for kids surgery this week I�d be pulling the Live�s out this week and put my carbons back in.

Is anyone running a 3 to 1 on a Carbon unit not live? I had an elite 7hdi before I got this hds7 carbon, so I am new at the better units. I would like to add the side scan transducer to it, I am running my hdi ducer for now. It will be June before I get one ( I am on SS ) I don't want to waste my money.

I upgraded my LSS-2 on my carbon to the new 3-n-1. The image is slightly better. The main thing is you get more range out to the side with 800Mhz. The Chirp images on it are very good though.

When you do the Sonar installation for the 3-n-1 on the Live unit... what do you designate as the transducer? I've got my 2D thru hull I'm still using while on plan and got it connected into CH1.. but curious as to the txducer to designate CH2.. You'd think Lowrance would put a $300 txducer in their list of options and let the SW figure out what it needs... OR maybe its just a too obvious and I'm missing something...

The 3-n-1 is a XID transducer, so it will detect & configure itself. Just like a TM150M transducer.

Put a 3-in-1 on my Carbon 12 (w. latest software) and it works fine. Great side-scan range.
