About 3 weeks ago I noticed my engine acting funny while on pad. ( Pro Xs 175 11' model) It seemed like it was losing power abruptly for just a split second and then continue to run fine. I'd run for another mile or so and it would do it again. I took it to the shop and they still haven't figured out the issue. Has anyone had any issues like this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Its the wrong time of the year to be boatless this long.

Thanks,

Might not be it but always start with the compressor, have you been putting 15 drops of premium plus oil in there annually as recommended?

Don't know a thing about mercs but my Yamaha had similar issues last fall and it turned out to be some bad gas. I replaced the fuel/water separator, changed the spark plugs (just cause) and make sure to add Ring Free and some StarTron stabilizer to make sure the water and gas does not separate in the tank if its been sitting around for little while.

I was thinking water also. Replaced the separator and added stabilizer. Brand new spark plugs that have been checked since the issue started. All my pressures are checkiing out. Replaced fuel line from the tank to the fuel line on the motor. Fuel line from the motor appeared to be fine. Thought the issue was resolved when they found the fuel line in bad shape, but still having issues.

Could be a coil going out.

Check your plugs. This gas is bad this time of year. Cool ground warming equals dew and water. I had the same issue on my 2016 250 pro xs

Like someone else said could be a coil pack trying to go out. But if its that intermittent it will be hard to diagnose till it gets worse or goes completely out. I have had to replace all of them on my motor.

I have had the same thing happen 2 times. Both times it was some kind of oily substance in the fuel filter. Both times they changed the filter and I was good to go.

My vote is coil. Already replaced one on my 2011 175 Pro XS. Hard to diagnose if it is only giving you problems intermittently.

Theres a lot of threads on bbc about it. The weak point of the pro XS is the compressor especially when it sits for long periods. Its reccomended to put 15 drops of premium plus in the compressor once a year or if its going to sit for more than a month. The pro XS has issues with coils to, and a few of the models had a factory recall, may be something to look into.

Doesn't sound exactly like my problem, but several years ago I had a similar issue with a 225, started fine and ran fine up to about 4,000 rpm then started to cut out. Spent several months in the shop trying to find the problem and it turned out to be the starting battery didn't have full amps. Replaced the battery and all was good. May not be your issue, but is an easy check.
