suppose a vote comes up on the second amendment, do you really want convicted felons who are denied the right to own firearms voting on any change to the second?

NO! ignorance of the law is no excuse and if they would commit a felony then they should lose the rights they now lose.

I'm with hop here - my kids were brought up to learn the rules, respect the rules, play by the rules and possibly win.

Kid #1 - did great - to this day my proudest moment.
Kid #2 - not so much . . . .been in TDC more years than out since age of 20, he's 44 now? Every time he's out, it's all good, I'm on the straight and narrow, then it all goes to carp. Why? an enabling Mother and older sister (Kid #1) both of whom blame ME. Long story short, he's a convicted felon (drugs) and I no more want him voting than I want Carlos from Guatemala voting.
Now - that having been said, Mary's #2 son is also a convicted felon (drugs) who has seen the error of his ways and he is now a responsible parent to two young boys I am proud to call my grand-children (11 and 6) - he has worked to become a (Licensed) TX Master Electrician, paid off a Honda Accord, and is a good parent to both his own children and his fiancee's children. I wrote him off 7 years ago but 5 years ago he saw where he was going and chose the other path. My prayers (and others) worked.
There _is_ redemption for those who are worthy - some have to work for it through the "system" and some have to work towards it "around the system". I think it just depends where their heads are at at the time.
I am proud to call Mary's Son #2 the father of my grand-children.
My son #2 . . . . . I hope he never reproduces.

Your mileage may vary, this is my story.

I think if they have voted before the felony and they do their time and finish probation then I wouldn't have a problem with it. A felony shouldn't be a life sentence for voting.

I am a Senager. (Senior teenager) I have everything that I wanted as a teenager, only 50 years later. I get an allowance every month. I have PU truck and a bass boat, I am blessed.

If you're visiting a parole officer for a felony, you shouldn't be voting.

I agree. I may also be in favor of a couple year waiting period after everything is finished. I dont see why they shouldn't be allowed if they did their time and were back in society not committing more crimes. I figure a couple year period should be enough for most to screw up again if they are going to and the good ones will be fine
