Can you imagine the riots or fights that might occur for voting the wrong way by Bubba. I mean aren't most of the prison population prone to violence.

I have a bit of a problem denying rights to any free adult citizen. There isnt a what ifs clause in the constitution. If The prison system is to fulfill its goal of being rehabilitative, then once sentencing obligations have been met, then you should be able to the be integrated back in to society, this includes reinstating ALL constitutional rights.

I agree with "Yes, but only after they have completed their sentence", INCLUDING any time under parole, supervised release, etc.

If you're visiting a parole officer for a felony, you shouldn't be voting.

So at this point there are two votes for yes, even while they are IN prison-
Would at least one of you state the reason why?
I wont flame you over it since Im the one asking, I know others may though, so expect it please-
But I really want to know why you would think thats a good idea-
And to be clear, I dont -

if they have the right to vote after serving time then why not let them buy firearms?

same difference, they lost a right due to their stupidity and lack of social responsibility.

suppose a vote comes up on the second amendment, do you really want convicted felons who are denied the right to own firearms voting on any change to the second?

NO! ignorance of the law is no excuse and if they would commit a felony then they should lose the rights they now lose.

Never. You do the crime you take the punishment, some of it is for life. To bad, so sad. This is what America has become. More rights for criminals. Horse hockey. One of my best friends in life is in prison. IMO he deserves what he got.

No, convicted felons do not automatically become contributing members of society at the end of their sentence.
