Sounds like there needs to be some rules enforcement

[quote=5X3Phoenix]So, that's straightened out. Thanks for the info. I've never experienced it personally as there's no way in Hades that a kid is going to be in my 250 horse rocket without me in it. This is all crazy talk. I was learning to back a trailer with a driver's permit. At 16 I could take it out alone. I am not sure my dad knew how to drive his boat. I was the chauffeur. He sent me out solo to find out how fast it would run. How long ago and how fast did it run? I drove my pop's old boat by myself as a teen too. It topped out about 35. Mine is capable of reaching upper 70s with the right driver. It's also capable of killing a driver (or someone else) who doesn't know what he's doing. When I was 16 we had a Skeeter that topped out at 50. When I was 17, we got a pro Craft which was doing over 70. Just so you know, 35 is fast enough to kill someone also. At 18, you either trust him with the boat, or you don't.

Some tough lessons, but rules are rules. If some don't like those rules don't participate. That also means being the ones that observe the infractions. When participants start deciding which rules should be enforced(snitching as some have said) and which shouldn't, then you have real issues.
Keep fishing!

As one of the kids on the 6th place team it was really disappointing to have our season end the way that it did. yes we broke the rule but in no way was it to be looking for bedding fish or in any other way that would give us an advantage. the picture was taken of me and my brother as we idled under the 35-bridge in the picture I am wearing my life jacket and my brother the one some of you all have said was standing is clearly seen squated in his chair HOLDING his life jacket in his left hand because we had just put in at Hickory creek ramp. so yes we broke the rule but in no way was it for us to gain a advantage over the competition. Me and my broth work very hard because fishing is what we love and it sucks to have something like this happen. but this is a lesson we will learn from. Im only saying this because I do not want people talking about me and my brother as if we were cheating to gain an advantage over the competition. The photo was taken while we were pre fishing Everybody makes mistakes. Learn from them. Keep your head up. Im curious...was the boat captain not in the boat on an official practice day? Not a requirement. Actually....its a requirement. All tournament rules are in effect on official practice days.

I think it's worth pointing out that this is the 2nd polygraph trouble that your boat captain has had. He had some problems at the Wednesday night joe pool event championship polygraph and wasn't allowed to fish those events anymore. I believe his name is Jason May. I heard the same thing as well.

Wonder if some of these kids even have a boaters card? Wonder if some of these kids even have a boaters card? Quit wondering and go check for yourself. The top tier of competitors will be at Cedar Creek next month. Im sure theyll get a kick out of a Mrs. Kravitz (google it) inquiring whether or not they have a boaters ed. card.

I never saw a Procraft sled that could even sniff 70, but that's here nor there- I am sure there was one or two that had a generous speedo......Chances of something going extremely sideways at 35mph is a whole lot less likely than at 70 plus was my point. My son is 16 and no I don't trust him alone in my boat. I don't trust anyone alone in my boat other than my tourney partner, and that's only because we fished out of his Phoenix for years before he sold it and I bought mine. I just thought it was silly for you to describe parental cautiousness as "crazy talk" followed by an example of "the good ole days".

So, that's straightened out. Thanks for the info. I've never experienced it personally as there's no way in Hades that a kid is going to be in my 250 horse rocket without me in it. Sounds like we have the same thinking. I still havent let my son, who just turned 18, out by himself yet. Im getting close but havent yet. Hes driven it by himself but I was out on the lake in another boat. His girlfriend came back to where we were parked and said they got it up in the 70s. That was his first time driving it without me in the boat. Theres a guy that fishes some of our weekend tourneys and he fishes it with his 10yr old son. The kid launches and loads his dads FX21 better than 90% of the grown ups load their own boats. Age isnt a qualifier. I was taking my dads boat out in Lewisville when I was 15 yrs old. I had a F100 truck and a hardship license. Another reason why kids are soft nowadays. Im to blame too. I wouldnt let my son buy a V-8 car....not as long as I was co-signing. I know what I DID AT THAT AGE. lol.

The photo was taken while we were pre fishing Clearly it was an unfortunate slip up. What concerns me more is that some team has such poor fishing skills that their prefishing consists of looking for other teams making minor rule infractions and documenting them. A TEAM OF WINNERS would say, hey guys! Life jackets and wave. Worry about yourselves people!!! Snitches wind up in ditches! Losers take pictures of [censored] like this! All I can say to the 6th place team is follow the rules to the very last detail, then weigh those fish and take their money next time. And pose for pictures! How do you know how good the team is that took the pic and turned them in. Maybe it was the winning team. Maybe they just want everyone to follow the rule like they do.
