Before you buy a 500 set of rain gear you might try to get the waterproof spray and soak your h2o bibs down. I think its in the camping section at academy. i treat mine after every couple washes, especially along the seams. I think scotch guard is the brand. Same thing you would spray on a tent.

^this^ best one I have ever owned There isnt a single rain suit on the market that will keep you dry and warm like Simms. No one can hold a candle to them. Theyre also backed by the best customer service in the fishing clothing industry by far.

When it pours nothing will keep you bone dry. When I know it's going to flood, instead of jeans under my goretex bibs, I wear goretex pants under them. I also wear a thin Columbia rain jacket under my goretex jacket. Never gotten wet Isnt that hot as heck?
Retirement best job ever.

My cabelas guidwear keeps me dry even when its pouring. Keep the cuffs tight and hood tight and I'm good. You can also use nikiwax to wash and replenish the waterproofing agent

I have a H2O rain suit set for sale that I guarantee will keep you wet. You're doing something wrong dude. My h2o Express suit keeps me bone dry, warm, and comfy. Maybe you got a bad one.....are you putting it on before it starts raining? X2 Love my H2O bibs and jacket.

Even on the best ones you need to keep the cuffs and hood tight as well as not wear anything that wicks like cotton under it.
Plus you need to care for it properly. For example never use fabric softener on Gore-Tex. I also put Revivex on mine to maintain the water shedding properties of the fabric outside the Gore-Tex membrane. Washing and drying Gore-Tex actually helps as long as you follow the directions.
I have a number of the Simms Jackets and they all work great. My favorite is a light one they no longer make. Got it on sale for $89 on a closeout. Super comfortable in a variety of weather conditions with layering underneath. It's over 10 years old and still growing strong.

Your not supposed to wash them with normal soap, they make a wash thats usually next to that soak waterproofing they sell.

There are a lot of good suits, but no good ones are cheap. People that claim otherwise don't know what a good suit can do. If you don't find a really good sale you will have to spend a minimum of $400 for a bib and jacket combo and likely more like $600. Also forget pants and only go with bibs. They do not have to be GoreTex, but they have to be a similar breathable material. I really like my Gill suit because it is totally water proof and lighter than most. It has kept me completely dry running 55 MPH for 40 minutes on Rayburn in a serious downpour that included some light hail. I really probably should have even gone that fast to be honest. I was wearing a full face shield over my jackets hood or the water would have gotten in with all the wind driven pressure. That day turned very ugly very fast and I just needed to get back to the ramp. I've had my Gill suit for 10 years and it is still as good as day one. I also really like Simms. I used to really like the Guide Wear and 100 MPH suits, but they quality seems different that it was 20 years ago. I don't have experience with other brands.
Now finding a good pair of water proof shoes to that aren't too bulky and allow you to feel your boats deck and the trolling motor foot pedal is a different story. I'm still searching for something I really like. It has to be at least 3/4 height to get a good interlock with your bibs to be truly effective. So far I've had to sacrifice feel to be totally water proof.

So far I've had to sacrifice feel to be totally water proof. Try the XtraTuf boots. They make you look like a elf but they are fairly comfortable and will keep you feet absolutely dry. You can wear some warm socks in them if needed. I saw the deckhands in Venice,La using them. I got a pair and they work great in a lot of situations from rain bass fishing to cleaning the boat in saltwater. They go on and off pretty easy.
