Do all boats take on water, and if so how much water does a normal boat take on?

The only water my boat takes on is over the transom when I get stupid and get off pad too fast. How much water are you taking on??? I did have a small leak in one of my livewell pipes in my last boat, and it let in just enough water to make me insane until I figured it out.

the only water i take on in my 15 foot modified V is when we back up too fast. or i did have a screw come out of my transducer and water was comingh in there. but that is fixed now. heck we stay pretty dry. my dad has learned not to back so fast.

My Larson fish and sport use to take on a couple gallons after a full day on the lake. I think where ever it was coming from sealed itself because now I only get a trickle when I pull the plug.

Is it riveted or welded? Over time the riveted will start to leak which is why welded cost a tad bit more and last longer.
If it moves, Hit it with a bigger stick.

No water in the boat for me. If you are getting water in the boat you have a leak somewhere.

Had an older aluminum Smoker Craft that needed to have the rivets tightened once or twice a year... ...or put in two more bildge pumps. When I took it to the junk yard, it had three pumps.

Had a riveted boat once and it always leaked. Went to trade school and had them weld up the rivet for a good price. Check for cracks by your bow hook and if your transom has holes for anything(tow hooks, wires, etc.) they may require a little more sylicon on them.
Also, check your plug. If it is old, may be letting water in.
That's why they call it fishing and not catching!

Popped rivets, loose hose somewhere so tighten all hose clamps, sometimes you might have a hairline crack in it (my boat had a weld break on the transom and you could barely see it, but it was enough to let a couple of gallons in), old plug, when you come off of plane and slow down to almost a stop give it a little goose and this will keep water from coming over the transom, don't drive it in a rainstorm , lol.

After a few years of messing with his riveted alum boat, my brother finally saw the light and bought a bigger bilge pump.
