Looking for input on a unit for a 14' flatbottom. It will be my first sonar purchase. I'm considering the Echomap chirp or the Helix 5. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

One thing I've learned is that whatever you decide on, you will be disappointed in 2 years because you will be able to get a much nicer graph for the same money. I guess a lot of technology is that way though. I bought the Garmin 93 SV last year and I've been really pleased with it for the price. You might want to shop around for a used unit. After a year or so you'll have a better idea of what features are important to you, and the units you are looking at today will be $100 cheaper.
