we've gone the last 7 summers for a week at a time. beach, eating at great seafood places, and fishing is about all we do. great pier there that has a lot of fish to be caught (Spanish macs, king macs, redfish, speckled trout, "accidentally" hooked sharks that cant be landed on the pier). there is a small zoo[align:right][/align] that is fun once, there's a waterpark in Foley that I heard was fun. Go watch the Blue Angels practice in Pensacola on the base (they have practice schedules online). there's also the air museum there in Pensacola. there's a ton of stuff to do from Mobile to Pensacola. Sea and Suds is a place on the beach that has great personality and food. the fried crab claws are delicious, the crown and cokes are strong! there's a marina in Orange Beach that is fun to walk the docks and watch the fishing boats offload their daily catch
our fav place to stay is at the Lighthouse Condos. we usually stay in unit #702. love it. two walmarts and a small offbrand grocery store. we try to eat breakfast and lunch at the condo. splurge at dinner. cost us about $800 eating out for a week

Make sure to go eat at the Original Oyster House. Also depending on when you go there is a really cool strip mall/boardwalk/High dollar boat dock called The Wharf at Orange Beach. They host the weigh in for this... Blue Marlin Grand ChampioshipYou might get to see this.... ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2019/04/full-105342-7630-img_6490.png)

There's a place in Orange Beach (15 minute drive) with lots of shopping, restaurants, and often concerts with big name people (Jason Aldean when we were there, didn't go watch but saw the signs and could hear him playing). Edit: same place as the Marlin pic above^^
Lola's is a big touristy restaurant with lots of outdoor games and stuff that would keep the kids happy. Food is average but the atmosphere is cool. Also i believe there is a go kart track close by but not 100% sure about that.

Naval air museum at Pensacola NAS. Well worth the drive. There are also a couple of civil war forts on the base. Lamberts cafe where its alright to zap your wife with a throwed biscuit is different. We could not explain to my elderly mother why biscuits were flying around the room. Take a rod and some heavier shiny spoons and cast into surf and catch ladyfish and Spanish.

Try out Lambert's Cafe in Foley. You will leave there STUFFED!! It's the place "Home of the thorwed rolls". Been there for 75 years. Get there when they open, place fills up QUICK!!

The Lighthouse is where I stayed last year. Nice place and a easy beach walk to Sea and Suds. Avoid Lola's and go to ACME Oyster House instead. Take the ferry over to Dauphin Island and let the 2 yo enjoy the Sea Lab. If you drink hard liquor buy your booze in Texas. Alabama places a premium price on such sinful activities. Take (or buy there) something for the youngster to dig for shells on the beach. Go out at night and hunt for the small crabs that are everywhere. The State Pier is a good place to see the sharks. Trust me, that week will go by fast. Go to Aquila Seafood and buy fresh seafood to fix dinner one (or more nights).
Waiting on Bob Davis' next selfie

Here in western KY, it seems like everyone here spends at least a couple weeks each winter in Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, or Destin.
