Curious.. How far do sand bass usually run upriver to spawn? I am interested by this whole "creek fishing" Idea, but know nothing really about it, me and a buddy of mine were reading through some of these posts and it peaked my interest!
Disclaimer - I am a bass fisherman who doesn't typically chase these fish, and know really nothing about them!!

They will go upstream till they physically can't anymore. They key is current. Creeks with the better current hold the better numbers. I usually go upstream till there are defined pools and start fishing slow in those pools. There are fish all up and down the creek but this is where I find it is easier to pinpoint them. Curlytail crappie jigs are my go to and will use minnows if the water is clear or the fish are pressured.

Thanks for the information, pretty interesting stuff! You are very welcome! I have caught fish 3-5 miles from the lake. It is pretty wild how far they will go.

yep, go as far back as you can. literally to the point where the water is running and you can see the bottom. you should also see some fish if they are there.

I have seen them turn sideways to go thru six inches of water. I believe they go 20+ miles up the Sabine from Toledo Bend to spawn. They do what they got to do to reproduce.

Crazy! I am up in Celina, so I'm guessing I should start my search around Ray Roberts or Lewisville maybe?

I dont chase them in the creeks but know several that do. You may want to wait until next year because the fish could very well be on there way or already back in the lake. My nephew caught a limit up Denton creek and his fish were empty.

They are definitely not done. There hasnt been much rain and that is what the females are waiting on. They are all empty because they are males.
