A big "Thank You" to Dana and Ken Donahue, owners of Lake Fork Marina. They saved me today. Out for the maiden voyage in a 2005 G3 boat I just bought. I think it still has the same trolling motor and graphs from 2005. Boat runs great. Trolling motor works. I pulled the cord to lift the trolling motor and the cord is rotten and breaks. Cant raise the trolling motor. I putter into the back of a creek that is about 1/2 mile from 515 Trolling Motor Repair between 154 and 17 and walk to the repair shop. I needed an allen wrench to loosen the bracket so I could raise the trolling motor high enough to get my boat back on the trailer. This guy would not sell, lease, rent or loan me an allen wrench. Couldn't believe it. So I walk back 1/2 mile to the boat and putter to lake Fork Marina. Dana calls her husband Ken. He gets his tools and picks me up in his cart and in 5 minutes we have the bracket loose, trolling motor raised and tied off so I can get my boat back on the trailer. I can't say enough good things about Lake Fork Marina, Dana and Ken and I have a lot of bad things to say about that trolling motor repair place on hwy 515. Brian at Sartin Marine is going to try to get me up and running tomorrow morning

Regards,

Bart Armstrong

Awesome to hear about LFM, not so much about the TM repair guy. Not that I live around there but I will make sure he does not get any business from me.

That ol fella is a bit of a codger, but at the same time I understand not letting your tools you make your living with walk out of your shop...

Make him put a $20 deposit on a dollar wrench. Better than be an a**. To the op, learn how to get the tm up when that happens.

I use tools to make my living as well, and even have to buy my own tools. I would never turn down someone that was in a bind and needed to borrow one, even if I never saw the tool again.

I offered to buy, lease, rent, anything...whatever it took, to use an allen wrench for a few minutes to raise my trolling motor. He said he no.

You'll be hard pressed to find better folks than Ken and Dana. That guy at the TM shop is an azz, always has been.

Gregg retired and a new young guy now runs it. He helped me out a while back when I ended up with a dead cranking battery. Must have hit him on an off day.

TM guy is a putz. Always has been.
Reasons he's still in business:
1) He can fix stuff
2) Captive market. You're at the lake, he's at the lake.
3) Word doesn't get out that he's a putz
