Needing some input. I have a blue top cranking battery and when when I stop to fish I’m running both graphs (1 at console and 1 up front.). When I go to crank the big motor both graphs go off then restart. I have taken the battery out and it’s a 900 cca battery and Wal-Mart tested it and said it’s good putting out 1157 amps. What now?

Do they cut off or just flash then come back on exactly where they were before you cranked?

What Make / Size motor? A Mercury will pull a lot starting. Also, what size battery? you may need a bigger battery like a 29 or 31 series. I have a blue top 31 series with a yamaha 250 and it works fine most the day if I sit for a most the day and go to crank sometimes what you are describing will happen but that would be if I sat for 5 or more hours with areators running as well.

I have the same issues. Upgraded to a Duracell 31 AGM. It has stopped for the most part. Had my graph cut off the other day again but that was not on motor start. I have been told it is also a gauge of wire issue. That if you are coming through a Block the wire is probably to small and needs to be upgraded.

It just started doing it this year. No problems prior. All connections have been cleaned. I even picked up a post connector and put all my wires on it and kept my starter wire on the threaded post. Thing that make you go hmmmmm!!

Yeah, you need a new battery.

Depending on the type of graph, there may be an internal setting that tells the graph to shut off if the voltage drops to a certain level. If that setting is at 11V, the voltage is probably dropping that low during cranking in which case it's performing exactly as designed. if you have that setting, try changing it to 10V and see what happens.

First off there's no way a 5 year old 900cca battery has over 125% of its original power. But then again Wal-Mart tested it so it must be true.
That big 250 SHO draws a lot of amps when cranking. A weak battery will drop enough volts that some electronics will cut off like Texan said. Replace it with a group 31 AGM and make sure all the battery terminals from it to the motor are clean. Problem will go away.

I have the same exact problem. Same battery and just had mine tested as well. I got out my multi-meter and read the instruction manual and figured out how to test the amperage as I run both graphs off of a direct line to the battery. Basically just have to put it inline between the negative side of the battery and the negative to the graphs. Both running together once they booted up were only running a little over 2 amps which shouldn't drain down that battery. I guess for now I will start my fishing season with a jumper box in the boat at all times because I haven't been able to find the issues. Mine isn't a 100% of the time in doing this. I have a Lowrance Gen 2 HDS 8 and a Gen 3 HDS 9 touch. Also have side imaging.

I was having the same problem and ended up running a new heavier power wire straight to the battery for the graphs. Problem solved.

Get you an analog volt meter and watch what the voltage does when you start the outboard.

Had this issue on pro xs running 3 graphs, poles, pumps all day. Went to Odyssey Extreme, problem solved. It's a beast.
