do you guys recommend a trailer hook on buzzbaits? I know that it depends on the conditions (weeds, grass etc.) I have had good luck with and without trailer hooks. But I have also had some short strikes without them. Let me know.

No, don't really need one. If you do get a short strike, follow up with a wacky rigged senko or a fluke- but they usually completely take it.

Would never throw one without a trailer hook, there is no reason not to have one on ever.

I have caught thousands of bass on buzz baits starting from the day Lunker Lure hit the market. At least 50% were hooked on only the trailer hook. Ask Rick Clunn about trailer hooks.

I used to. I don't anymore. Had a fish hit my bait at a weird angle and the trailer hook ended up in his head and it killed the fish before I even landed it.

I throw trailer hooks on buzz baits and chatter baits. Very expensive lesson at a national championship on Kentucky Lake which cost me moving from 33 place money to 17th place money few years back. Since then always have them trailer hooked!
