Going to Fork in the morning... planning on getting on the water about 10... I know it will be cold in the morning, will the bass stay on beds or move off? I was there 2 weeks ago and saw bass on beds in the back of Caney.... any thoughts or suggestions?

Some will stay, some will move. Depends on the area of the lake and/or water temps in the area.

Spent a few days out there this week and some observations I had...granted I am no guide or pro so take it with a grain of salt. There is a good wave trying to move up or at least they were when I left yesterday evening. I doubt this little front pushes them back too much. Had a good number of bites each day I fished and the average size got better each day. Plenty of fish on beds but are a bit harder to see and find than years past. More beds than I can recall just out in open water not hear any other cover. Strange actually compared to years past in my own experience. You can catch fish a lot of different ways right now. They were eating spinnerbaits, bladed jigs and starting to eat eat topwaters and frogs as well. Caught a fair amount just pitching a Texas rig in 0'-10' as well. Bigger fish were way up shallow though for me. The moving bait bite is very aggressive. If you go in an area and are not getting bit pretty quick then move. Also you will find huge differences in numbers creek to creek and cove to cove in same general area. If you go up north do not be afraid to target postspawn fish either as there is a wave up there that is done.
All in all I can find nothing to complain about the past 4 days. There are crowds on the lake but the bite is on and if you will keep moving and changing up you will be rewarded with numbers and size.

Thanks !
We had good numbers there 2 weeks ago... biggest being 5.7... I will start in the same spot I am sure they are still there! Hoping the wind lays down a bit!

We fished Fork yesterday and had a great day. The wind was really cold and we didn't get a bite for the first couple hours, but then things really picked up. We caught all our fish on moving baits, mostly cranks. At one point in the afternoon, we saw a couple birds diving and some fish busting shad at the surface. Thinking they were sandies, my buddy and I went over and cast at them. They were all slot fish. We caught a bunch of 3lb to 4lb bass for about 30 minutes and then they were gone. It was a blast!

Me and a buddy were there on Thursday/Friday. Caught two fish total. Granted Thursday was more about checking the lake out and investigating the boat lanes since we had never been. Friday AM went straight to Glade Creek. A quick storm came in but moved off pretty quick. Threw swim baits, chatterbaits, brush hogs, baby brush hogs, weigthless senko, square bills....Fished 1'-7' of water. Couldn't buy a bite. Finally caught one 3 pounder on Grandebass Rattlesnake in purple. Gave up and moved to Taylor Creek to get out of the wind and caught a big crappie on a squarebill haha. I don't know the lake at all, but really did not expect the fishing to be that tough.

I have fished it and had the best days and like you, went a few weeks ago and spend 3 days of nothing but FRUSTRATION....but, being on the water on mother Fork is better than...well, you know the saying. Next time you go, you will catch that PB!! At least that's my thinking and why I keep going back each year.

The really shallow beds were empty and the wind had the lake stirred up just enough to not not be able to see the deeper beds. This cold front is only a minor delay. Good solid day of sunshine and it will be go time again.

I don't know the lake at all, but really did not expect the fishing to be that tough. It seems like some areas the bite can be off but just moving to a nearby area can make a huge difference. That is what I mentioned in my original post. It's crazy how two spots in same area can have such a difference in the bite right now. Just gotta keep moving. Fork can be tough so dont lose sleep over a rough trip out there. Next time you will catch them.

I was holding the boat in about 8ft and casting parallel to the bank. The fish we saw busting shad were on a main lake point.

We caught 6 Friday and 5 Saturday from daylight until about 11. 1st time my boat has been on the lake. Been with a guide a couple of times, didn't really learn much. Caught them mainly on SB's and a beaver style bait. One on a BB and another on a tomato trick worm.
