 SHO 250 smoke

I have a SHO 250 with around 300 hrs. Hasnt given me any problems. Today after a 10 mile ride and a 30 min soak, there was an abnormal amount of white smoke on startup. Didnt run rough, miss or backfire. I ran it hard just afterwards and it ran fine. This motor has warranty for another 10 days. Is it worth taking it to the shop? Advice?

I would take a short video or pics with your phone of it running and smoking and send it to your mechanic. It might save you a trip and downtime.

I would take to shop ASAP, and explain to the dealer what is going on and that you have 10 days left on warranty, could save you a lot of dough!!!

My merc four stroke did that everyonce in a while. I think they said it was from not letting it idle after running it hard.

My 2012 SHO did this same thing after about a 10 mile run. Come to find out it had a cracked head. Be sure the dealer checks the heads for cracks. Fortunately mine was under warranty and Yamaha replaced it without a problem.
