1987 Johnson 50 hp.
What's the minimumt required cold cranking amps?
The only thing the battery would do is start it, and run a fish a finder.
Or what would you recommend?

i would say around a 350-400 cca battery is what you need. go to big and the charging system on that engine might not be enough to keep it charged up and can shorten battery life

I would get the highest CC amps in a 24 ser. battery you can. You will have a lot less issues

and remember you can ROPE start... if need be...Don't remember if it can be done with no battery..but with weak battery (im pretty sure) been a while since I had a 87...

A 24 0r bigger is OK ..If ya start with a fully charged battery big or smaller.Your consumption will be same..and charger has same load to replace
