Mr. Crappie mono sure must have improved a lot in the last several years. I may have to try a fresh spool. I switched to Vicious Hi Viz 4# and 6# 6 or so years ago and never looked back. At that time Vicious was far and away much more well behaved for me with far less memory than Mr. Crappie on all my spinning reels. Ive used all the tricks on both lines. Reel Magiic, trolling it behind the boat loose, tieing it off and stretching it a bit and then reeling it back loose to unwind but with tension between my thumb and finger. Did that to both brands. Vicious is still my favorite mono today but after all the good reports in this thread, Im going to get a fresh spool of Mr. Crappie and give it another try. I buy mono on the 1/4 lb spools and change it out often. I suspect any brand will misbehave if stored on a reel a long time without use. I use Power Pro 10 lb braid a lot also and like it quite well too. Zero memory issues with that stuff.
