I'm looking at buying a 2018 Legend V20i but before I pull the trigger I would like some advice. Is it a good idea to buy a boat that they no longer make? If you own a newer V20 what do you like dislike?
Thanks for the advice.

For the money you will spend why do it? Plenty of options with boat brands intact and offering warranty coverage. On a boat that new it would have to be a significant savings to offset lack of warranty coverage.

Wouldn't even consider owning a boat that they no longer make. Especially not one that your gonna spend 50-60k on, if I'm spending that kind of money I want full warranty on everything and readily available parts for the boat. Good luck finding legend parts in a couple years

http://www.bbcboards.net/forumdisplay.php?f=43Read through that forum. This can quickly turn into a ford/chevy debate but I've heard more than a couple horror stories of the front deck of V20's warping and bending with very few dealerships willing to do any work on them. I certainly wouldn't be buying one. Most of the legend pro-staff went to Triton.

I wouldn't. Not that the v20 is a bad boat, although it did have some issues. Just from the standpoint of 40+ thousand and getting parts and problems fixed. No real dealer support anymore and I'm sure the triton factory isnt thrilled about warranty work on boats they dont make anymore.

I wouldn't own one of the V models, too many had structural issues, probably one of the big reasons the company is gone...

I wouldn't own any high-dollar bass boat that is no longer made.
Coincidence is His way of remaining anonymous.

Now I am not going to dispute anything that has been said already, but I have a 2017 V20 I purchased new exactly 2 years ago this month from Sartin Marine at Fork. I have had no issues with the actual boat only minor issues with equipment added that seemed normal to me with any boat. So in reality the hull is the only real issue for concern. I haven't confirmed it directly with him but have it on pretty good authority that Randy (previous owner) of Legend has been taking care of warranty issues on the hull. AGAIN I HAVE NOT SPOKEN TO RANDY!! What I can tell you this is the best fishing boat I have ever fished from. It is unbelievably stable, tons of room to fish two large guys up front, handles rough water fantastic and all round the best bass boat I've owned. Now, I am 65 years old and don't drive like a speed demon and only fish for pleasure. However, I've had it to 72mph and could have gotten and another 1 or 2 out of it I think. It is no doubt the last one I will ever own and I am happy I bought it before Johnny bought them out and stopped production.
If buying one now I might have your same concerns but my experience has bee okay, maybe 10 years from now I will give you a different answer.

You better continue to baby it because last I heard Randys repair facility was back up to its eyeballs in V model repairs, I think the particular stress problem areas are around the cup holders and the corners, the model wasn't engineered correctly or really at all.

I was told that White River would be handling any warranty work? a lot of risk in this decision, I wouldn't buy a newer boat from a company that is no longer in business. I would consider a older model like a 211 say 2012 or back since they are not under warranty anyway and have a good reputation. Their are a lot of skeeters, rangers, phoenix and other brands to choose from that are still in business. just my .02 if you have problems hard to find someone to pin it on to get help. everyone will play the blame game well it's his fault

I also wouldn't hesitate buying a newer 211 or 199, those were solid boats. Theres and outrageous colored one in the classifieds https://texasfishingforum.com/forum...32/re-2018-legend-alpha-199#Post13085132

Lots of great boats at that price. But like others have said, I dang sure wouldn't buy a boat not made anymore.
