 Question for the Rayburn folks

Have any of you guys made the trip from Rayburn to Amistad. I�ll be at at Rayburn next month and need to leave from there and go to Del Rio and looking for the best way to go. Thanks for any help, ideas etc.

What side of the lake are you coming from? I�d take I-10 from Houston to San Antonio then jump on 90 to Del Rio.

Use google maps when you leave, it will give you real time traffic and road closures that can be handy. Personally I'd also use any route that avoided Houston, even if its at the cost of a little time.

Never been over there so I�m no help, but I was looking at head to Houston and go the way you are talking about. I live at Ivie, headed to Rayburn the last week of April and leave there and head to Del Rio for Champs that Saturday May 4.

Left yesterday from Rayburn and it took us 6 1/2hrs to get home in northwest SA. We�ve found that from Rayburn it�s fasted to go through College Station then head down 35.

Once you get on the other side of San Antonio it�s pretty smooth going minus the smaller towns. Stop in Hondo at Herman and Sons for a bite to eat and truck it the rest of the way.

Houston is not a problem as long as your not going during high traffic times. Prolly not worth the effort to avoid it.

Go to Livingston and take 59 to 99 just before Houston. Take 99 to 10 and then to SA and then jump on 90. This route will avoid the Houston traffic. 99 is a toll hwy and if you don't have Tx toll tag, they will send you a bill.

I think your best bet would be 255 over to 69, 69 south to Woodville. Then 190 West to Livingston, 59 South to New Caney. Jump on 99 to avoid Houston and get on I-10 in Katy. Then I-10 to SA and 90 after that.

Houston is not a problem as long as your not going during high traffic times. Prolly not worth the effort to avoid it. When I lived in Houston the high traffic times were: 6AM - 9AM 11:00AM -1:00PM 3:30PM - 7:30PM Has that changed in the last couple decades?
