I'm gonna go with Livescope because the one thing it does is eliminates unproductive water. Spotlock can't do that.

I have not used Livescope yet but I value being able to stay on cover easier with my aluminum boat that drifts everywhere more. Plus with taking my wife and in laws being able to keep them over fish without having to stay on the TM would make is so much easier. Now if I already had spot lock then my vote would be for Livescope obviously.

I recently had both installed on my boat and can't imagine giving up either one, but if I had to choose between the two, I would say spot lock has been the biggest advantage. I fish out of an aluminum boat and have been fighting the wind for years. Now when I come off the water, I don't feel like I have been in a 6 hour wrestling match.

I think I've got the cost of crappie down to about $230/lb - with the Xi5, all the Lowrance electronics I can stand, but without any Garmin stuff. I'm thinking I'll stick with this low cost at this time and not incur a lot more headaches!

Good luck with your journey, and be sure to let us know how it goes! laugh

Oh yea, that Livescope is pretty amazing stuff!

Fishing in the slip this morning was interesting. There were five other fishermen fishing in nearby slips. Fishing was slow. Between them in the two hours I fished they caught a total of 7 fish. Using the livescope I caught 8 and lost 5
others that I briefly hooked. I also directed them to two of the 7 they caught. I caught them because I could see exactly where they were and stay with them long enough to eventually get bit. Not all I tried for bit but enough for dinner.
Most were only 5'-7' down in 25' water.

I also caught another Crappie in 3' deep water at the front walk on my way into the marina. It's time to fish shallow for sure.

If you're fishing boat slips you obviously wouldn't need spotlock and Livescope is the way to go but if you're fishing open water spotlock is invaluable. If you're fishing open water and have Livescope, spotlock is even more valuable so to keep the boat in position while you watch and present your lure to the fish. If I can only afford one the obvious choice for me is not only spotlock, but lift assist, remote control and the jog feature. Makes my fishing day a lot easier.

how well does LiVESCOPE work without Spotlock....I cant see LIVESCOPE working very well while youre trying to stand on a trolling motor
in 15mph winds....from what I see in videos most boats are anchored with a 'spotlock' holding the boat, hooked
