This is probably a better section.

Looking to possibly upgrade my engine.

Boat has the original Evinrude 225 Vindicator on it. Boat is rated for a 225. Todays 225's are heavier aren't they?

Looking to move to something more efficient with as much power and fuel injected.

What motors (years, makes, models) should I be looking for and where do you guys find them?

Either a Yamaha SHO or one of the new Mercury Pro-XS units would be an excellent choice. Both are very light weight. Your vindicator weighs about 460 pounds and both the SHO and the PRO-XS come in just a few pounds over 500. In most cases the 50 extra pounds wont be a problem. They are both very powerful engines that make in excess of their rated power and have excellent hole shot. There is also an evinrude option with the G2-HO that you could consider but it would be the heaviest of the 3 because of the integrated electronic controls and power steering. All 3 will bring you increased reliability, efficiency and performance.

Also an option but the SHO / V8 merc bring more displacement and power.
