Anyone used their warranty? Is it as simple as take it to a dealer, give them $60 and get a new one? Have a Sierra 765 that decided to explode about a foot from the tip.

If you have the time, you can send it back if. If it's truly a malfunction of the rod, I think they replace it free. The replacement cost at a dealer is a no questions asked type deal, just give them the old rod and the money and get a new one. Not all Dobyn's dealers do this though, call first.

Thanks. Not sure what happened. Really hadn't used it much. Caught a bunch of fish all day without issue then got hung in a bush. Popped the line to try to shake it loose like I usually do and it just exploded. Weird deal.

Same here. I've got 3 right now (2 extremes and 1 champion) I need to send back, one of them popped just trying to shake a topwater loose, one of them popped on a hookset and one I don't know what happened, I went to pick it up off the deck and the tip was broke, that one may be on me. They're still my favorite but I've had more snap in the last year than I have in the last 5 years combined.

I like their rods a lot. Heck I have a bunch of Fury's that I have put through the ringer the last year and have had zero issues. Got this one in December and finally got to put it through the paces at Falcon. Caught a 9.5 and then 10 minutes later it went boom.

I had an older extreme break ( my fault ) and I called the new Sulpher Springs headquaters and they allowed me to just drop by and exchange out. I still had to pay the "exchange fee" but didn't have to pay the shipping charge. The good news was they gave me a Exteme HP model as a replacement.

Do not take it to Oak Ridge Marina at Fork unless you bought it there. They wont warranty it. Lake fork tackle has in the past for me, as has fishing world in Dallas.

Personally, that really ticks me off about Oak Ridge. They were really rude when I asked them about it and I wont spend a penny there, and it will hold me back from buying Dobyns in the future. Dobyns needs to get all their dealers providing equal warranty service if they want to be taken seriously. This gamesmanship against the customer is not something Im interested in being a part of.

I bet if Dobyns knew they were doing that they would give them a talking to. I will probably just take it directly to Sulfur Springs. Seems like the best choice.

This is correct. It was talked about a lot on TFF a year or two ago that Oakridge was tired of handling rods they did not sell and would no longer accept rods not purchased from them. Dobyns actually address this and states: it is dependent on the dealers willingness to participate.... Even mentions Cabellas by name as excluded. http://dobynsrods.com/warranty/

Crappy rods, but if they have a good warranty, I might have to change my mind
My son bought one with some of his own money and he broke it setting the hook on a 16" fish at a high school tournament. Is there a Dobyns place anywhere to return in Tyler?
