Interjet will most likely be the best bang for your buck. Though it will require a layover in Mexico City.

American. It's actually American Eagle. Nonstop to and from Mazatlan.

About $800 RT back in February. I heard American was eliminating the non stop and connecting through Phoenix.

They are doing that for the summer my trip in June is now changed to stops in PHX from Houston and the same way back a normal 2-3 hr trip is turning into an all day affair.

To avoid the Mexico Cuty layover hassle & the customs hassle
I am taking Southwest to LAX
Catching Air Alaska to Mazatlan nonstop
From Mazatlan back to LAX ON AMERICAN
then back to Texas on Southwest
All connections / Times are perfect
Southwest is $149
Alaska / American is $350
So for $500 there is no layover in Mexico and the Mexico trips are non stop

am going to picachos next Friday....I live in Albany, georgia (southwest part of the state)….I will fly American from Tallahassee fl. to dallas then change planes for a direct flight to matzalan...do same in reverse for trip home....past three years I've been to picachos,el salto and comedero and have never had to fly through mexico city...my previous three trips,I would fly American from atlanta to either dallas or phoenix and change planes for a direct flight to matzalan….

I hope you don’t have lost luggage problems on your outbound flight. You’re going from a domestic flight to an international flight on a different airlines and LAX can be very problematic

Key is to have your layover long enough to avoid luggage or most flight delays. My general rule is to avoid layovers if possible. When you can't then make sure the timing isn't tight. Take your time. Have lunch or a drink to pass time on the layover. Short layovers get to be problems way too often. I always advise those we travel with against them. When they don't listen typically they have problems.

I would have enough clothes in a carry on to get me by the whole trip as insurance.

I have traveled quite a bit domestic and international and never (knock on wood) had a luggage issue.

LAX is a [censored] hole. I avoid it if possible. Last time through there I spent 5 hours waiting on a flight to Sacramento.

I have seen 3rd world airport much better

I hate that ghetto airport, but will go there if the price is right
