Since the bad guys were moving to cut them off I assume they were in the back of a creek/cove with nowhere else to go (if successfully cut off)....so where would a u-turn get them?

Look, regardless of whether this account is true or not, if you put yourself in an isolated area in ANOTHER COUNTRY incidents can possibly occur. This does not necessarily raise the level of danger from one day to the next. The possibility of something like this happening over there is always there. Anyone who doesn't know this should not be fishing in Mexican waters. I've fished the Mexican side many times but it doesn't leave my mind that I'm not in the USA. There is ALWAYS a risk when you venture over there. The Calvary isn't going to come help you; you simply avoid sketchy situations. Sometimes I'm comfortable fishing that side, other times I'm not. It's a great lake to fish; the Texas side has plenty of safe water to fish if you don't want to take a chance of a bad encounter. In fact, the Texas side is probably some of the "safest" water I've ever fished. It's certain that both sides can have ridiculously good bass fishing!

Never leave your house. Bad things can happen going to the gas station or going to work. I prefer to enjoy my time on this planet and not live in fear of what could happen.

They missed because there weren't enough evil features on the gun like flash suppressors or bayonet lugs.

A group of guys my dad works with went 2 weeks ago. They normally stay on our side but fishing sucked so a couple went to the Mexico side. Not sure where at on the lake. Anyway it was their 2 boats and one other guy. They were fishing towards the back where they said there was some huge nice house and all of sudden somebody popped off a few shots. They packed it up and left and the other guy did as well. They talked to that other guy once they got back across and he said that's been happening lately. Evidently they will fire some warning shots to clear the area. Just be careful and get out of the area if something doesnt look right

When there's drugs to be delivered and lots of money to be made in doing so, this threat of danger will always loom. Fish at your own risk. Now, if the fishing was as good as it was from '07-'13, I would be taking that risk. Not the way she's fishing now, though....

For anyone that thinks that these events are impossible do yourself a favor and save borderland beat to your favorites. This is Tamalupis we are talking about. One of the most dangerous places in the world. Hell just yesterday 19 people from a bus were kidnapped to probably never be seen or heard of again. Im not saying dont go, hell I have spent 40 hours in Salinias this year but please dont lull people into a false sense of security regarding what could happen over there.
