Is the Cara ST better than T7, and are they noticeably lighter with the alconite guides? I guess it’s a newer rod, I think. I’m looking for a couple of all purpose rods and leaning toward the MMC-F5-172, 7ft 2in. I have plenty of Amistads which is my favorite rod for heavier applications. Not needing rec’s on any other brands or models. I stick with Cara. Thanks in advance for any opinions or suggestions.

cheers Okie cheers

I don't know about better. I tried to compare an ST to a similar T7 in the store a while back and it "felt" like the ST was a touch lighter but that may have just been false perception on my part. They're both so light already it's hard for me to tell.

My biggest issue seems to be finding Falcon Caras. Anyone know where they are kept in stock?

I've bought all mine on TW. Military discount as well if you are prior service.

I have one of each and am not sure what the difference is, I asked a falcon sponsored guide on Friday and he didn't know either.

This was my thinking also. That is actually the reason I don’t have any ST’s. Not a fan of the micro guides.

It’s my understanding that it’s a little bit different blank paired with micro guides to be lighter and more sensitive.
The 7’2 MH mm rod is my go to right with the Amistad. I used to be a 7’ guy for all my “all purpose” rods. But loved this rod so much that I basically have gone to that. I think the only 7’ rod I have is a Lowrider for throwing wacky worms on.
Get the rod Okie. I promise you you’ll love it.

The cara ST in the McClelland series is my favorite. The 7’2” swimjig rod is a great all purpose rod and the 7’4” heavy cover jig rod is as well. Just wish I could find them somewhere. Tackle Warehouse hasn’t had them in months and shows they won’t be getting more soon. Sure wish they would....ive got the itch for a few more.

Gonna buy a couple more Cara's but I'm not a fan of the micro guides and I wanted to get as close to all purpose rod as I could find in either ST or T7. I guess alconite guides mean micro guides? I'll go with T7 if that is the case but would like a little longer rod than 6'10". I'll call my goto tomorrow.....good ole' Paul at Southwest Parts. Thanks, everyone.

Is it a micro guide? The ST 7'2" McClelland? If not, I'll buy two of those. If Southwest parts doesn't have them in stock, they will order them in for you and it doesn't take long at all. Those guys are good.

Was going to say give Shane a call at SW Parts Okie.
Falcons micro guides really aren’t that bad. Not too small. Just a little smaller than normal guides. But no where near as small as say Ducketts.
