I am new to bait casting reels since I always used spinning. Looking to buy a new bait casting reel. What is the best bait casting reel to cast light jig heads 3/8 oz longest around $200. Thanks for your input

Shimano then Lews. I was a huge Lews guy then got a Shimano for a change and hooked on them.

Light line and a M/L weight rod mean more than the reel

What Scott said!!
The key is matching your equipment.
I can easily thru 3/8 oz with a 6500 Ambassadeur, but I have set the reel up for performance. A 5500 Ambassadeur will cast 1/4 without any problems. I am about to find out what a 4500 Ambassadeur is capable of.
The next step is practice. Dont be afraid to try different lines as well.

For sub 200, the tatula sv is the absolute best for throwing light lures.

Yep. Tatula is a good choice. Add $50 to the budget and get a Shimano Curado DC. <<<<a better choice.
