This article from 2/19/19 is pretty informative and interesting. https://www.kxan.com/news/investiga...tion-on-lake-lbj-flood-debris/1785409628Hopefully the concerns are as laughable as some may think. I have a lot of friends and family on the lake who rely on tourism and they've had a lot of cancellations for upcoming spring break reservations. I'll be down there this summer, but I'll definitely exercise extreme caution while navigating the lake.

Spring break on LBJ will be interesting. Lots of creeks are super shallow now due to silt and sand. You could make a fortune with a dredge barge right now.

Our neighborhood on Elm creek got together and had ours dredged. We are on the lower end and didn't really get much sand from the flood but the creek needed it bad from silt and debris. Not sure what that will do to the fishing but fixing to find out.

Choke isnt fishing very good right now. that's disappointing, I'd heard rumors saying otherwise - but very few Results from the SAPD Big Bass Tournament this past weekend, 90 anglers. Im sure you could catch it right this time of year, but I wouldnt make a special trip to get down there: http://sapdbassbusters.com/index.html

Was out there today, and did not notice anything too dangerous if you are paying attention. There are a few spots that were 4' that are now 2' but the ones we found were areas where you should already be idling anyway or where areas where there have always been buoys. That being said we only fished from the dam to the golf course so the other half of the lake and the river I can't say. We had a solid fun day out there, nothing giant but the ones you find fight like they have something to prove. I think they are buffed up from fighting all that current lol Our neighborhood on Elm creek got together and had ours dredged. We are on the lower end and didn't really get much sand from the flood but the creek needed it bad from silt and debris. Not sure what that will do to the fishing but fixing to find out. We went into the long canal just west of Crockett park and caught two for what that's worth. Both on plastics fishing slow.

Wes, how was the water temp when you were there? 53-55 There were a few spots even a little colder, but didn't find anything much warmer.

I was told 3-5k a day to dredge out there. We raised around $16-17K and got 6-7 days worth of work so ours was a little cheaper but close. Not sure how many full days they worked as I am not there nor was I in charge. I just sent in my money!

I'm up the creek to the east of Crockett and on the right just before the sailboat. If you get up there next week, I'll either be out fishing or down at the lake cooking or sipping on a drink! Come say hello. My boat slip is the deepest spot in the whole creek. Right at 9'

Today was the first day I have ever fished LBJ and put it at a private boat ramp up the river pretty much right across from the sandbar in the picture above. The lake had a bunch of trash floating about 20 feet out from the bank that made a few spots annoying to fish other than that we ran in the river channel and didnt have any problems with finding hazards. I was hoping to find fish pushed into the cuts off of the main channel but as far as I could tell they have not moved towards the back of the cuts yet. We found some water up to 63 degrees today but no fish pushed in yet. It might have something to do we it being dry just a couple of weeks ago. The few fish we caught were at the mouth of the cuts and on the main river channel mostly around rocks. Again Im new to fishing the lake so take this info for what its worth Im sure in the next few weeks the fish have to push back shallow and start spawning.
