Myself and four friends headed to the Sabine River Friday morning. First time ever. We arrived at River Ridge at 7am, proceeded down the wrong road, got stuck and wasted an hour. For the first timers there are no markers on the road at river ridge directing you to the launch. Still have no idea where the ramp is. Left river ridge and went to the ramp on 2517. Fished the sandbars and the creek mouths south of the ramp, caught 12. Did not set any records but had a great time, learned a lot for next time. Everyone we talked to was friendly and helpful except maybe the first guy could have gave a bit more direction to the ramp other than pointing and watching us go the wrong way!

Sorry you missed finding the high water ramp. Its at the corner of the camp road to the south of Jane and Toms house. Glad you caught some fish. Tipping Roadrunners with small pieces of crawfish tails helps.

All turned out good at the end. Pan seared four filets for supper.

Looking at the water level that day, you would've had to launch from the low water ramp. That being said, it would have been a muddy mess that day and nothing short of a 4wd should have attempted to launch there. Glad you found some fish, you would have had tough conditions.

The only time I ever went we found a bend in the creek up from River Ridge. Everybody was throwing roadrunner jigs but I've killed a lot of sandbass on a Bomber 5A in fire tiger so I tied one on. We literally caught on huge sandie after another on those little crankbaits and we had the "hole" sort of blocked with our boat. Nobody could get a shot on them. Them boys got very frustrated watching that show.
They were running some sort of sandbass tourney that day. We didn't know about it but I'm sure we would've placed near the top.
