In a couple of weeks 38 years. Should have 47 years in when I retire. CenterPoint Energy and all the other names before that.

Had 34 years 9 months when I took early retirement 7 years ago. Was Director of Marketing and Export Services. Would have stayed longer but this great family owned business sold to a large corporation, never was the same. Decided to leave on my terms, not on corporate terms.

Other than 1 of the techs here, I've been the longest lasting employee so far.

What industry?

I have 1+ year at my current position. (IT)

I't's been my desire to have a career position to retire from since I was in my late teens.
Some bad life decisions prevented that. Ironically, those feelings have changes in recent years and are now legal in many states.
When I was hired at AT&T at age 46, I thought I finally made it, get 20 in and have some kind of retirement.
2 poistions later through no fault of my own, I'm where I am now, but the kicker is, I work from home, 4 shifts a week.

I know I'll never be able to retire until I die or the lung disease dictates it. But if I can stay working from home for the rest of my working life, I'll consider that at least a second place win at life.

Oil/Gas Exploration.
Despite the huge boom in West Texas, it's not good for seismic exploration right now. We're the ones looking for Oil/Gas.
When you got a huge surplus (like right now), you don't really need us.
That raise I got was so that I wouldn't leave the company, despite many doing so and many other's getting laid off.

27 years. However, it might have reached an end. I'll know next week. Kinda excited about new possibilities though.
