Whats the best rain gear for the money I've been running the bass pro 100mph gear for about 3 years time for some new stuff I was thinking Gill

Depends on the weather. When it's cold, I use BPS 100MPH. When the weather warms us HUK. I'll even use the HUK suit when it's chilly in the morning to cut the wind.

Fish2222 has a good point - none of the popular "Fishing/Boating Brand" gear would really be considered best bang for the buck. It's insanely overpriced, but we keep buying it so they keep pumping it out.

I prefer Simms Pro Dry, certainly not anywhere near bang4buck category lol, but light, cool, and perfect for Florida. Gill, BPS, Guidewear, etc are "warmer" suites and better suited for cooler temps in general. Not sure about Huk/Stormyr

Honestly best bang for the buck look for non fishing marketed gear - REI/Camping/Hiking/Golf marked stuff. And there's always Froggs or whatever but I never cared for the material or the wacky fit.

EDIT - somehow I read "for the money" as "bang for buck" and that's not what you're asking I don't think...sorry. For me, best for money for me is Simms Pro Dry - expensive, but can be found on sale to get it inline with most other brands. GuideWear Pro would be another similar choice if you had BPS/Cabelas Bucks to burn. Gill Tournament is popular but again is a warmer suit - so it depends on what you want out of it I guess. Personally if I'm spending hundreds of $$ I want Gore.

I have a set of Stormr Vapor bibs and jacket and they are very nice with the exception of the length.

I am 6' 7" 250 and they are very short on me. The jacket looks like a 3/4 sleeve baseball shirt and the bibs only come to the top of my hiking boots to give you an idea.

I was looking at every other brand to get a set that fits better and there are only 2 brands that offer Tall sizes, Cabela's and Bass Pro, so it will be the Cabela's Guide Wear that I order.

I have several friends with Gill suits and they love them.

Stormr makes a lighter weight one than I have and a couple buddies have them and love them.

Simm's is always highly recommended as are the HUK, BPS,and Cabela's line.

The Academy H2O Express stuff looks nice for the cheaper stuff.

Like 78Staff said the Frogg Toggs stuff is a love/hate type relationship but they will not last a long time no matter which one you get.

Gill FG 21 is the best for performance/tournament/all around fishing use. It's the best seller. Vortex hood, double cuffs, high collar, etc. It's lined, but not insulated.

The RS23 Race New for 2019 Can be layered under for colder weather. Extremely light with no lining, but very dry. This suit will be good for late spring/summer use.

The OS31 is priced lower. No Vortex hood, but still very dry and comes in women's sizes and more colors.

my cabelas guidewear is almost 20 years old and still keeps me dry.....there has been a lot of rainwear threads over the years and I've never heard anyone say anything but good things about guidewear�..

I have the StormR Nano, which I really like, but you�re right about the length

I�m 6� 3� and the sleeve and pant length are ridiculously short.

But they are lightweight, keep me dry and with some layering, are warm enough even when I fish in Canada. I�ve gotten a lot of compliments on how they look

I have a BPS 100MPH suit as well as a Gill. I like the Gill better but get the bibs and not the pants.

IMO best bang for the buck would be the cheapest Goretex bibs you can find, probably BPS100MPH (on sale under $200), and the Cabelas PacLite goretex jacket (just over $100). This is not the BEST but it will keep you dry for hours and last for years (I've had a Cabelas jacket for over 10 now), and is breathable so can be worn in warm weather too.

Any of the H20 Express or Froggtoggs types stuff that is not made of Goretex or a newer breathable material does not fit the bill for me.

It doesn't sound like you're actually in the market for the "best for the money" though, if you're looking to upgrade from a 100MPH suit. Anything above that is going to be a marginal improvement at a significant cost, like upgrading from Curado to Chronarch or Shimano rods to Loomis
