Good morning,
Can anyone recommend a quality brand of replacement windows?

One of the things I've been wanting to do since I got my house a few years ago is update all the windows.
My house was built in 1975 and I'm sure they're the same windows of that year (thin aluminum framing, single pane glass).
Pretty much half the windows in my house are drafty. You can feel cold air seep through around the framing.

Although I would like to replace them all at once, job security remains uncertain due to industry restructuring, and I don't want to put anything on credit.
I would be changing 1-2 at a time as the year goes. Have 8 windows total.

Many moons ago we installed a lot of Pellas, some as new construction and some as replacement. They were some of the best in the business back then. They've got the options for sure, wood/metal/fiberglass, double hung....

It looks like you can get them at Lowes.

I cant really rave enough about my Champion windows. One of the best purchases Ive ever made. I also have a home that has Pella windows. There actually pretty nice windows but I like my Champions better. Having said all that, the Champions were pretty expensive.

The wife's cousin used to be a rep for Andersen Windows, so about 5 years ago we replaced nearly all the original windows with Andersen under some favorable pricing. Excellent quality, both the windows and the French doors.

I replaced mine (all) in 2011 it was the best money I ever spent on this house, House was built in 1977 and had the same your talking about.

Quality window is who I used.

Pella offers 15% off and 0% financing in the spring/summer. We did the upstairs last year and will do the downstairs this year. Incredible how much warmer its been upstairs since we replaced the windows and they look 100x better, too. Cant wait to do the rest this year.

My retirement house was built in 1975 and had the same type windows. I replaced all of them except one bay window by myself. I bought the Lowes store brand windows that were double pane low e argon filled vinyl windows. I also replaced the sliding glass door with a pella triple pane argon filled low e door that was listed on craigslist as a wrong size order. In addition to all the doors and windows I removed the old Trane heat pump and installed a multi head ductless minisplit heat pump. Installing windows and minisplits is not rocket science and you can save a lot of money. My house is 2000 square feet and last months electric bill was forty-six dollars.

when we rebuilt the house after the fire.......we went back with Pella Low-E 366. Very good product. You could pit your hand on them in the mid of summer or winter and not feel a thing.
